For me if the OST wasn't as good as it was, I wouldn't have watched it until the end, I can't really recommend this but unlike most of my other reviews this was more my opinion than an attempt to be objective and analytyical. Some episodes, especially the ones right in the middle of the series, isn't exactly up to par with what I've seen on earlier ones. I don’t usually watch many episodes in a single day, but I just about marathoned the second half of this anime because I physically could not stop watching. Erratic, but perfect. Some anime thrives on the topic of religion, using Japanese culture as a setting for fantasy adventures in which the spirit world and humanity mingle, either pleasantly or unpleasantly. Even side-characters that I have forgotten at some point contribute to how the story plays out in its grand scheme. I wouldn't say it's slow paced but many episodes consist of nothing really happening, if anything whats happening is more likely to confuse you than teach you anything. Each character had their own specific role. The issues start small and ramp up, and the foreshadowing and doomsy, creepy vibe seeps into every nook and cranny of the story as it progresses. In the beginning it starts off extremely well with building up these characters that are all very unique and distinguishable from each other. In almost every example, the Queerat cruelty is more humane and reasonable than the Human's cruelty. "From the New World" Anime Review AreYouIncast. From the New World takes place in a rich and deep world. We follow Watanabe Saki and her friends through the sufferings and pain they endure as they try to unravel the origin and possibly vile past of their present society. With the original author's imagination and seemingly plausible scientific facts coupled with the direction and pacing of the series, the show pulled this off with aplomb. 新世界より (From the New World) is a futuristic sci-fi paranormal novel by Kishi Yusuke that was adapted into a two-cour anime in fall 2012. Here I am, doing exactly that. There is no in-between. Did I expect a lot of the things that happened? In a post-apocalyptic world set a thousand years after our era, the remaining humans, now with telekinesis, live in a seemingly peaceful society, but dark secrets of the past will soon be discovered by a small group of friends. I'm being vague so i'll just come out with it and say that in the first leap of time there are a few episodes dealing with yaoi/yuri relationships that weren't even hinted at before. From the New World strongly resembles the stories we used to tell each other around the fire – mystery, suspense, and much embellishment. From the New World has a somewhat simplistic, yet appealing art style. Title: Shin Sekai Yori aka From the New World Genre: Drama Company: A-1 Pictures Format: 25 episodes Dates: 29 Sep 2012 – 22 Mar 2013 Synopsis: In a future Japan there exists a picturesque village barred from the outside world. The rulers of this village possess psychokinetic powers called cantus. It doesn't just settle with "children growing up", however, at every point and turn there's dark revelations and disturbing implications, some of which are never answered but deftly left for the viewer to contemplate, and right up to - and including - the ending, you always feel that something is just... out of place. I didn't find any of the romances convicing or moving and that really killed the anime for me, but if you liked some of those more... childish? Cookie I need to vent my frustrations with the anime in this review but its possible people who haven't already watched it won't find it interesting to read, if so just skip this part. Fans of mysteries, supernatural anime, and drama with suspense will likely find this anime agreeable to their tastes. It’s like the writer had an idea planning to intertwine it into the plot, but couldn’t figure out how and let them drop,or briefly mentioned them in some minor scene in the hopes that he could validate having it in the first place. The design and animation are beautiful, with only a couple small hiccups, and the soundtrack is nearly perfect. Visually interesting character designs … There is really nothing to say here, this for me was the weakest point in the anime as it's hard to care about any drama when you don't like the characters. The godlike ability to manipulate matter remotely turned many power wielders to violence, inciting a long period of upheaval. Yet despite this, Queerat cruelty is always emphasised and characters are horrified by it. I often don’t pay much attention to music, but during the last few episodes I instinctually had chills run up my arms during some of the intense pieces of sound. Character wise it's the same thing..In 25 episodes u might have the expectation of development..Well too bad for ya cause the only thing u are gonna get is zero delivery. The story covering a decade, and yet the characters never grow or develop. They remain pretty stagnant. The only "development" is the one of us being told that the main char is a great leader..Ok so where is the damn justification?I didn't see any leadership from her.She just did as told and following the voices of dead people in her head for god's sake.As to how she hears dead people..That is a mystery. For all we know she might be wonder woman. "Saki you are strong, you give up easily and you are weak-willed, you aren't phsyically strong and you are easily discouraged, however you are strong because even if you are disheartened, you will stablize quickly and move on". I came here after i watched that horrid piece of crap called Blue Gender.I was told that this anime is better in a lot and interesting ways. But is so isn't based on the fact that it uses the exactly same cliches. No. It pains me that I can't write anything too specific, for fear that it may spoil all of you, but I can tell you to pay attention to the story -- stick with it. No. Instead people in this distant future have created themselves a Utopia, and hold psychokinetic powers know as Cantus. From landscapes to villages, each background is unique. In this period, PK users[humans] are the dominant species and Queerats are their sub-ordinates or slaves and often address the former as Kami-sama[literally translating as 'God']. This review is for all volumes (#1-7) I absolutely loved the anime. It follows the lives of a group of children living in a lush utopian society a millennium from now where everyone possesses the power of telekinesis. Still a bit giddy, though. the modern society as we know it has not been replaced by a technologically advanced civilisation but that of a small picturesque town characterised by a community whose lifestyles have regressed into that of villagers. For Saki and the other members Zenjin Academy's 'Group One', this is a danger that they lamentably fall victim to. This process works well for this anime, given what it was going for. Yes. They play an important part and they’re pretty fleshed out, but a few of them could easily be replaced with somewhat similar people and the anime wouldn’t take a hit. Another might say she just keeps her ground. Stories like this should not be overlooked. Troubles would throw themselves at the main cast, but she remained headstrong and resilient. impossible possible. ... From the New World took me surprise and at the same time left me scatting my head. What's up everyone? Eric here bringing a new anime: From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori). super powers have appeared in modern times, the world after 1000 years has passed since this anime. That's my biggest criticism though, and if you stick with it long enough for the plot pieces to start falling into place, it's very rewarding. Do Not Sell My Personal Information that helps the students master their PK[Psychokinesis] ability aka Cantus. Animation & Sound: I have no complaints here, but then, I favor pretty art over gritty art. Shinsekai Yori is not one of them--it is simply perfect. They are supposed to dig deep into the crevices of the world, exploring topics that are sensitive to human nature and will never stop being discussed. While it's drop off point is earlier than others, it too suffers from a problem in anime where the story goes off quite quickly. However, once that arc was finished and we get our first time skip it doesn't get too extraordinary as one would hope. Press Room Horrors and conspiracies that will threaten the life of any who uncover them. Create lists for what you've seen & read, watch over 40,000 legal streaming episodes online, and meet Shin Sekai doesn't have an OP, but the ED songs are enough to get me to listen every time. Talking about myself, I’d say I loved the anime. I still found an attachment to the characters, especially our main girl Saki. Yet Saki recieves this "compliment" like five times throughout the anime like it's some major character point, I can not understand any of these characters at all. The animation would sometimes change to fit the overall mood of an episode. The animation was one of the things that immediately turned me off.Never mind the changing animation styles, the quality was rubbish. The series relies too much on having the audience "shocked"with the truth, that it forgets about good animation.Sadly, the animation was at a similar level as Bleach. At times u have a violent scene, the camera was off in the distance so you really don’t see much beyond some figure being torn apart and even when it was closer,it felt like pokemon.. To conclude..Good voice acting(not that this is a herculean task) and everything else utter rubbish FULL of plot holes, dropped plots,an ending that can kill your brain cells and characters who are less interesting than the guy who advertises soap in tv. I loved her development throughout the series. Either way, Saki might be the most interesting female lead I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and seeing her grow and become more mature, dealing with all sorts of otherwordly problems and how she reacts to them, it was an amazing experience. So! While never losing hope of a better future. are overall very good and match the style of Shinsekai Yori pretty well. The series's greatest weakness is also one of its strengths. I promised myself I would write a review after letting my giddiness simmer down. Shinsekai Yori or From The New World is an amine which you can either hate or love. The most stupid thing though is by large the ending. It starts on a state of logic being gangraped in the climax. Then it plunges into a plot twist that is full of false scientific facts and to add injury to the insult, the series ends with the same boring stupid ass cliche that Blue Gender does.Except that the execution is by far even worse. At least Blue Gender had some build up going into it,Shin Sekai Yori has a mini montage at the very end to justify the trip to this hellhole. The storyline is notably complex--which I actually thought was its main downfall. Also, would like to share this with you guys: Shinsekai Yori has an amazing start, the first 7 episodes are magical and intense, beautiful and stunning. Sometimes the scenery is quite pretty but otherwise not much to be said, I also liked the Queerats appearence although it's difficult to understand how Kiroumaru is a Queerat when he looks nothing like any of the others. An anime that was a complete financial failure. No. For those that do, you'll be gifted with a new anime to remind you why anime as a medium is so remarkable. Leaps in time which make no effort to explain anything but have so much new stuff going on that it's very easy to just give up trying to figure out whats going wrong. Did I expect this to be a happy-go-lucky anime? The campfire pops. You won't regret anything. This anime digs into the fear adults can have of what children can grow into, and the fear of allowing them enough freedom to do so. I just wish I could do it more justice - hence why I wrote this review. Yet from that rubble, a flower blossoms. Notice at Collection ... Multi Anime Opening - New World - Duration: 1:21. But it's possible that my OCD is interfering with my judgment. I generalized this review to contain no spoilers for those who haven’t watched but are curious. Voice acting wasn't that great, but I can't really articulate why, their voices just got annoying after a while. There's never a moment where I couldn't remember who a specific person was and it's not just from their appearances but from their well-written personalities and backgrounds. The series has many story arcs. One thing the series does really well is introducing intriguing ideas. The issue is that most of those concepts end up going absolutely nowhere or are executed poorly. You think that the whole thing is going to eventually have a point, but it just doesn't. None of the other characters were particularly remarkable, but they weren't bad either. I did think, though, that making everything pretty enhanced the sense of utopian peace love and happiness--so that when the darker parts came out, it enhanced the sense that they'd really tried to sweep all forms of badness under the rug and failed. Thankfully we have now reached a point in the story in which we can finally start piece together what we have seen and understand a considerable part of the bigger picture. Each concept is thoroughly explored and reinforce each other to create a powerful and fascinating dystopia whose elements successfully examines and challenges the philosophies we take for granted. Did I expect this anime to be abundant with extremely dark materials? You would think that voicing a mole-like character would bring your dogs barking, but in this case, it was surprisingly good. I found these episodes very boring to say the least. In almost every episode, there is at least one "wow" scene that makes you pause and just admire how beautiful it is. In almost every episode, there is at least one "wow" scene that makes you pause and just admire how beautiful it is. That doesn't mean that I think 5.5 is an unreasonable score because I really did dislike many elements of this anime. This anime picks up quickly after the initial journey, swooping you into a world that might just be insane. Huaha. Even at the very end, I took a big breath, smiled, and thought about how great the whole series had been. If you're a sci-fi fan, read on. Try I shall, for the characters deserve the highest amount of praise one can give. Within 10 minutes I was hooked and by the 4th episode I was wondering what happened to that cool, intriguing and enigmatic show that I ha been watching. So when I found there was a manga, I was excited to experience this world all over again. Yet the the depicted future will remind you more of a feudal japan as there are no fancy gadgets or mecha robots to really say "Hey, this is the future!" Music was great. goals. And with the way the story goes, it happens quite often. The plot of the show flows very nicely from episode to episode and just as we approach the climax, there’s a plot twist and the storyline from that point just flips upside down in a way you would never expect it to. Also IMHO the outro song Wareta Ringo by Risa Taneda is the best anime song of the season! This From the New World Complete Collection contains episodes 1-25. If the character animation wasn't consistent, the background art was. All seems well and peaceful in the Utopia man has created for itself, however, as our main characters learn early on in the story, Man's evolution came at a price and the New World's mysterious history is written in blood and hidden in secrecy. I've always thought that it was encouraged as a form of "population/birth control" to limit the number of unplanned birth or children, because each new member of the village can potentially destroy the village if their powers go out of control. Every time I learn something new about them, I dislike them more. Terms I haven't made much of an effort in this review, for me there are two kinds of reviews and this was the kind where I vent my frustration. A very fascinating theme! In this new world, Man has neither need nor want for technology and reigns supreme over the New World's indigenous species called Bakenezumi and other new organisms we come across as the story unfolds. Their childhood arc paces itself nicely in giving an atmosphere for us to take in that's mysterious and puzzling in a very limited understanding of what the world is actually like because that's how the childish mindset would actually be like in this scenario. The animation and colors change with what is necessary to translate the current message, which works perfectly with the disorientation of most of the characters. Shun, with his calm demeanor; Satoru and Maria, both special to Saki in their own way; even Mamoru and his cowardice--Everyone played a part in helping the story move towards its goal. The rulers of this world have the cursed power of Telekinesis… The world is ruled by people who have the \"cursed power\" or the \"gods' power\" of telekinesis, (呪力 jyuryoku). After all they went through, some character development was defininetly necessary, even just for the point of realism. However, you don’t need to read my review for me to tell you to go watch this anime right now. It may sound weird, but his almost nasally voice fit Squera's character perfectly. The vibe of the anime says a lot and paying attention to it helps you stay in tune with what the characters are experiencing. The story takes several turns and so it's hard to give an overall synposis but since there isn't one provided by AP... But there are also hidden truths surrounding it. (Queerats are humanoid creatures that are less intelligent and look like rats) The humans dealing with the Queerats also frustrated me, throughout the anime human cruelty is constantly demonstrated - to the point where if humans thought the same way in real life as in this anime, I doubt Japan would even exist as the Allies would have destroyed it or enslaved it after WW2. Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) Videos Reviews Comments More Info. I must admit, I was kind of worried when this started, because anime of this genre can seem really good at first but fall flat by the ending. In the beginning it seemed a little slow and I wasn’t quite sure where things were going, but it paid off to be patient and let the anime take its path. If the character animation wasn't consistent, the background art was. start out the basic idea of how the story of Shinsekai Yori pans out is the fact that it's a coming of age story focusing on five different characters and their journey in discovering what the past history of human civilization eventually transpired into pure dystopia. There were many characters who did not show any character development at all yet we continually went over them, even very minor characters such as Saki's parents. About Whenever the story line was getting boring, I could always count on the OST to make dull moments seem incredibly epic. The most frustrating element of this anime is how drawn out the story telling becomes after the first relatively fast-pace episodes. Heck, you'd be forgiven if you forgot that it was a futuristic dystopia at all, considering its setting looks more like the 1800s. Advertising FAQ While there wasn't an OP, the EDs were fairly nice. First off let me say that it has been ages since a anime has truly captivated me in such a way. From the beginning we follow a group of five children as they grow up in the anime and see how they develop within a community bounded by strict rules, and deal with the decisions they make that alter the course of their lives and the entire society they live in. The first few episodes lacked what I like to call "signs of a coherent narrative" (ie a clear objective for the main character) and I very nearly dropped it around episode 4. It is manipulated in a way that light-hearted feelings would change to one full of darkness and uncertainty. Dread is, perhaps, a good word for the sensation.
